The Heat

U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to meet with lawmakers this week as a group of Democrats and Republicans try to reach an agreement on an infrastructure plan that could actually make it through Congress with bipartisan support.

The Democrat-controlled Senate held a procedural vote Tuesday on an amended version of the “For the People Act”. But it failed to get enough Republicans to join with Democrats and clear the required 60-vote hurdle to move forward.

To discuss voting rights and infrastructure negotiations:

  • Aaron Mate hosts “Pushback with Aaron Mate” on The Grayzone, an independent news site.
  • Leonard Steinhorn is a political analyst and professor of communication and history at American University.
  • Adolfo Franco is an attorney and Republican strategist.
