A federal judge has ordered Pacific Gas & Electric, California’s largest power company, to explain its role in potentially starting two fires that eventually merged.

The utility said last month that a blown fuse from its power lines may have started the Dixie fire.

This comes after the company’s equipment was found responsible for the 2018 Camp Fire, which killed 85 people and destroyed the town of Paradise.

PG&E announced last month that the company is looking to invest in underground power-lines starting with the most at-risk areas, but many question the feasibility of the project.
