Food insecurity and malnutrition grow in Venezuela

Even before the coronavirus pandemic, Venezuela’s deep economic crisis was taking a crippling toll on the country’s children, with an entire generation at risk of growing up hungry and malnourished.

The 2021 Hunger Hotspots report by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization puts Venezuela high on its list of countries with the highest percentage of malnourished people.

In July, The UN’s World Food Program began working in the country to provide aid to those in need.
