20 years after 9/11: UNSC calls for unity

As the attacks of September 11th, 2001 unfolded in the United States, the world looked on in horror and sympathy.

Even traditional U.S. adversaries like Iran and Cuba sent condolences. 

That sense of shock and unity was felt deeply at the United Nations Headquarters and the international community sprung into collective action, but as CGTN’s Nathan King reports from New York, that sense of collective grief and sense of purpose to combat terrorism was short-lived and squandered by Washington as it unleashed it’s military forces on what would be known as the global war on terror.
