In America’s southern states, where slavery thrived for centuries, the issue of paying for the country’s dark past is gaining new momentum.

U.S. President Joe Biden has promised action on reparations – the idea of compensating ancestors of enslaved people.

One place in particular that’s trying to navigate the issue are plantations.
