This year marks 50 years since the People’s Republic of China was recognized by the United Nations.  

Over the years, China’s role at the UN has grown into one of global activism, with sizable contributions to development, peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance.

While it often faces criticism from Western member states, analysts say China is changing the way the UN works.
