California invests billions in tech to fight wildfires

The western part of the United States is facing another destructive wildfire season along with a shortage of firefighters. Many states have invested in technology to help ground crews battle fires more safely and effectively.

This year, California allocated $2 billion of its budget to firefighting — the highest amount to date.

A portion of that is going to research and development.
