China – U.S. trade policy

Global Business

After a months’ long review of U.S. trade policy with China, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai says discussions will resume with Chinese officials.

In remarks to a Washington think tank, Ambassador Tai said China is not fully compliant with a Phase One trade agreement signed in January 2020 under the Trump administration. Chinese officials say Beijing has been implementing the agreement “faithfully.”

The Biden administration will keep tariffs in place for now.
