The Heat: China – U.S. trade

The Heat

The hard-line approach that the U.S. had adopted towards China on trade relations doesn’t look like it will change much anytime soon.

United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai outlined the latest approach from the Biden administration during comments delivered at a Washington think tank on Monday. And, although she said she plans to have talks soon with Chinese officials, she also insisted China needs to comply with the “phase one” trade deal that both sides signed up to last year.

Later in the show, Author and historian Bhu Srinivasan discusses the Biden economic agenda that is now stalled in Congress.

Joining the discussion:

  • Einar Tangen is a political and economic affairs commentator
  • Jeff Moon is a former Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for China and president of China Moon Strategies.
  • Yan Liang is an economics professor at Willamette University.
  • Bhu Srinivasan is an historian and author of “Americana: A 400-Year History of American Capitalism.”
