Much if California saw an unusual weather pattern that caused an intense weekend of high winds and heavy rains.

In some ways, it was needed, but in other ways, it was simply dangerous.

The region was hit by what’s called a cyclone bomb. The storm dumped moisture from a long plume of ultra-moist air that meteorologists called an atmospheric river.
