U.S. opens Mexico & Canada borders after 20 months of COVID-19 closure

Starting November 8, fully vaccinated COVID-19 visitors can cross the Mexico and Canada borders into the United States for nonessential travel.  

Since March last year, travel by visa holders from other nations had been limited to essential travel only. 

The lifting of restrictions comes just in time for the holiday shopping season. 

CGTN’s Ediz Tiyansan visited the border town of San Ysidro near the U.S. city of San Diego to take a look at what it means for businesses and families.
