U.S. snowstorm compounds travel and Omicron chaos

Some of the busiest parts of the U.S. had virtually ground to a halt on Monday after they were hit by the first winter snowstorm.

The severe weather compounded an already chaotic holiday travel season and a return to school in some U.S. states now contingent upon obtaining a negative COVID test.

And meteorologists reported thunder snow in some areas – a rare phenomenon.
