Omicron surge propels U.S. university classes back online

Colleges across the United States are facing yet another setback with the latest surge in coronavirus cases.

Many campuses had reopened last fall and have taken several measures to maintain in-person education.

But the unprecedented number of infections, driven by the highly contagious Omicron variant, has made it impossible to sustain all the lessons in classrooms.
