According to some scientists, the severe drought conditions observed across most of the U.S. and northern Mexico in 2021 are forecasted to get worse in the years ahead. A combination of high temperatures and long periods without rain caused what climate experts describe as “near catastrophic farming conditions” in both northern Mexico and the southwestern United States.
