Sanctions against Russia for its attack on Ukraine could threaten the U.S economy, according to the head of the U.S. central bank.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell testified before lawmakers about financial conditions.

But if sanctions bring uncertainty, Powell remains committed to raising the bank’s benchmark interest rate later this month to tame surging inflation.
