Traffic fatalities surge during COVID-19

An estimated 39,000 deaths were reported on roadways across the United States in 2020, the highest since 2007, even though pandemic precautions dramatically reduced driving. 

Fatalities are disproportionately higher in underserved cities and neighborhoods with majority Black and Latino residents. 

CGTN’s Ediz Tiyansan has spoken to community activists who’re trying to change that.
