In response, U.S. President Joe Biden announced an additional $800 million dollars in military support for Ukraine.

More than three million Ukrainians have fled the country. According to the UN Refugee Agency, it’s the fastest growing refugee crisis in Europe since World War Two. The United States has pledged its support and has said it’s willing to take more refugees. But, last week a Ukrainian mother and her three children were turned away at the U.S.-Mexico border. The mother and her children were eventually allowed to enter the United States under a humanitarian exception. But what’s the fate for other Ukrainians trying to enter the U.S.? And, why is the U.S. southern border still closed to asylum seekers?
