The Heat: COVID-19 & Monkeypox

The Heat

COVID-19 cases are trending up again in the United States as concerns also grow about monkeypox.

The death toll from COVID-19 in the U.S. passed the one-million mark earlier this month.

And, as a reminder that the country still has a long way to go in battling the pandemic, there has been an uptick in the number of new cases and hospitalizations over the last few weeks. Could that worsen as Americans head into the summer months?

And, how much of a global threat does the recent outbreak of monkeypox pose?

Small numbers of cases have been confirmed now in more than 20 countries outside its endemic zone in Africa.
