Jan. 6 committee hearings begin Thursday

Lawmakers probing the storming of the U.S. Congress will on Thursday try to engage voters directly when a select committee holds its first hearing live at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday.

Democrats leading the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol say they’ll unveil new evidence to support allegations that the insurrection was a conspiracy.

The hearings are taking place with midterm elections looming and Democrat President Joe Biden fighting an inflation crisis.

But with a recent poll showing the number of voters who hold former President Donald Trump responsible diminishing, Democrats may struggle to win public opinion.
