Cities across the globe roast under worsening heatwaves

Cities around the world are being urged to better prepare for heatwaves as climate change is making such extreme weather events far more common.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies says millions of people are at risk of heat-related illnesses and thousands of lives are already being lost each year.

Events were held around the world Tuesday to spread awareness of the dangers.
