New York has promised to become what supporters are calling a “safe harbor” for people from across the U.S. seeking an abortion.

This comes in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the landmark ruling Roe versus Wade.

Governor Kathy Hochul has pledged both financial and legal support for reproductive healthcare providers and clinics in the state.

But the plans face opposition from anti-abortion campaigners and those opposed to the use of taxpayer money to fund procedures for people from other states.
