Thousands of firefighters work to contain devastating Oak Fire

World Today

More than 2,000 fire crews are trying to contain California’s largest active wildfire. The Oak Fire has come dangerously close to the iconic Yosemite National Park, which officials say is out of harm’s way for now, but several communities are still under threat.

In just a matter of days, the Oak Fire has burned through 7500 hectares, almost 19,000 acres, prompting mandatory evacuation orders across the region.
