The Heat: Countdown to U.S. midterm elections

What happens on November 8th will likely determine what President Biden and the Democratic Party can accomplish over the next two years. Democrats are trying to keep Republicans from winning control of the U.S. House of Representatives and gaining a majority in the U.S. Senate. High inflation, abortion rights and crime are all expected to influence how voters decide. There’s also the ongoing investigation into documents seized at former President Donald Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. A filing released by the U.S. Justice Department on Tuesday suggests Trump advisers may have moved or hidden classified government documents at the property. On Thursday, a federal judge in Florida is expected to hear arguments about Trump’s request to assign a special master to review the evidence seized by the FBI agents.
