D.C. outreach programs focuses on violence prevention

The U.S. capital, Washington, D.C., has some of the strongest gun laws in the country. But it still has a high rate of violent crime involving guns.

Community leaders have a number of outreach programs that they say are key in reducing the incidence of gun crime, starting with better support for children in the worst affected areas.
