Leaders from around the world are continuing to address the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi was one of the first speakers on Wednesday. He said he wants commitments from the United States if there is to be another Iran nuclear deal. The President of the United States Joe Biden also addressed the Assembly. He blasted Russia over the conflict in Ukraine. And, he outlined U.S. policy towards China. Later, my colleague Elaine Reyes spoke one-on-one with Jean-Pierre Lacroix of France who is the UN’s Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations on the role of UN peacekeeping force across the globe including the contribution by Chinese personnel.

Joining the discussion:

  • Jean-Pierre Lacroix is the UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations.
  • Anton Fedyashin is a Russian expert and a professor of history at American University.
  • Einar Tangen is a Senior Fellow with the Taihe Institute.
