Yemen truce expired, no extension announced

The United States, along with several other Western countries, has called on the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen to engage constructively with UN efforts to broker an extension to the truce in the Gulf states’ long-fought war.

The six-month truce period formally expired on Sunday, having brought the longest period of relative calm since the conflict began in 2014.
