World Today

Ex-President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva won the first round of Brazil’s presidential election after he received 48.4 percent of the vote, while rival and incumbent President Jair Bolsonaro received 43.2 percent on Sunday, October 2nd.

Since Lula did not receive the 50 percent needed to win outright, the presidential election will move to a second round scheduled for Sunday, October 30th.
