The Heat: China’s National Day Celebrations

The Heat

Chinese people both at home and abroad are celebrating the 73rd birthday of the People’s Republic of China.

Saturday marked the beginning of the National Day holiday with a sunrise flag raising ceremony in Beijing. Large crowds gathered in Tian’anmen Square to watch the event.

The celebrations, also known as the country’s “Golden Week,” have brought a sharp rise in travel as many people head home to be with family.
