Breast cancer screenings remain below pre-pandemic level

When former “Today” show anchor Katie Couric revealed she has breast cancer late last month, the news highlighted a lingering side effect of the pandemic.  

Breast cancer screenings and diagnoses remain significantly below 2019 figures after plummeting during the pandemic. Couric says her mammogram was six months overdue. And she’s hardly alone. 

Doctors are now renewing calls for women to get screened as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
