U.S. researchers develop hurricane-resilient wind turbines

It’s been a little over three weeks (Sept. 28) since Hurricane Ian struck the U.S. state of Florida, causing death and widespread destruction. 

It’s the kind of intense weather event experts say is becoming more common with climate change, ​and the type of weather that could threaten offshore wind turbines, ​increasing in number in response to the climate crisis. 

Some researchers think they’ve found a possible solution to that problem.
