U.S. “carbon bomb” projects could cause climate disaster

The most important climate summit of the year gets underway in Egypt next week.

COP27 will bring together governments from around the globe to discuss ways to tackle climate change.

But many of these leaders will be coming from countries sitting on massive ‘carbon bombs’ – oil, gas, and coal mine projects that have the potential to release billions of tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere which could completely derail efforts to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius.

CGTN’s Toni Waterman reports from the Permian Basin in Texas, which has many these so-called carbon bombs.
