Abandoned migrant belongings are being resold along U.S.-Mexico border

World Today

A record number of some 2.7 million immigrants have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border over a 12-month period, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The influx of migrants along the U.S.-Mexico border has also seen exponential rise in clothes and other goods being left behind by those attempting to make the perilous journey across the mighty Rio Grande River.

Over the last few months, locals have collected the belongings of the migrants who were unable to cross the river to the U.S.; these abandoned goods have become an economic opportunity for those looking to improve their lives by reselling things like clothing.
