Doctors warn of alarming surge of RSV illnesses

World Today

Doctors in the United States are urging the Biden administration to declare a health emergency – over what they call an “alarming surge” in pediatric hospitalizations due to RSV – a common respiratory virus that can cause severe breathing problems in young children.

According to the Children’s Hospital Association, more than three-quarters of pediatric hospital beds in America are now full and, in some places, space is even scarcer.
