As winter approaches the deadly and destructive conflict in Ukraine continues with no end in sight.

The UN reports more than 6,500 Ukrainian civilians have been killed since the conflict escalated in February. According to the International Crisis Group 14,000 Russian-speaking civilians have also been killed since hostilities began in 2014.

Meanwhile, Ukraine says Russia has knocked out almost half of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, leaving millions in the cold dark. With the onset of winter, there have been calls on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to seek a negotiated settlement but he’s rallying Ukrainians to continue the fight.
