U.S. President Joe Biden hosts his first state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The two leaders met earlier to discuss the Ukraine conflict, trade, cooperation in space, cyberspace and the ever-growing energy concerns in Europe. The touchiest topic though terms of the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act signed into law this summer.

Passage of the 430 billion dollar package was a hard-fought win for the Biden administration. But it includes massive green subsidies that Europeans say could put their manufacturers at a disadvantage. Thursday, Biden said “tweaks” may be possible to help level the playing field.
