Police brutality and mass shootings. Deadly issues again confronting the United States.

Just weeks into the New Year the U.S. is struggling with some very familiar problems that are making international headlines.

There have been some 40 mass shootings so far including two within a matter of days in California. This is the highest number, at this point, for any year on record.

And in Tennessee, five Memphis police officers have been fired and are facing murder charges in the beating death of a 29-year-old Black man. At a Friday press conference with the victim’s family, their attorney denounced the accused.
