U.S. lawmakers audit COVID-19 relief program spending

Scams amounting to an estimated 60 billion dollars or more, stolen from U.S. COVID-19 relief programs, were laid bare in a congressional inquiry on Wednesday.

Some were paid for masks they never delivered. Others used stolen identities to obtain loans.

But as CGTN’s Owen Fairclough reports, lawmakers auditing how pandemic relief money was spent are also trying to score political points.
