Health officials in the U.S. are warning the public about a deadly, drug-resistant fungus spreading in care facilities across the country.

According to a new study, screened cases of Candida auris tripled from 2020 to 2021, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is calling the fungus an “urgent threat” in part due to its high death rate.
