U.S. President Joe Biden launches his 2024 re-election campaign setting the stage for a potential rematch with former President Donald Trump. 

And former Vice President Mike Pence testifies before a federal grand jury investigating the January 6th attack at the U.S. Capitol. 

It’s been a busy week in U.S. politics. U.S. President Joe Biden officially announced his reelection campaign for 2024.  Biden will have to convince voters his record merits another four years and his age won’t impact his ability to lead.  At 80, Biden is currently the oldest serving president.  

Former Vice President Mike Pence testified before a federal grand jury investigating efforts by former President Donald Trump to overturn the 2020 Presidential Election.  

And, the Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives passed a debt limit bill, in what is expected to be a showdown over government spending.  The United States must raise the debt limit in order to avoid defaulting on its loans.   

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen spoke about the importance of Congress taking action.
