Leaders and delegates from the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum are meeting in Lima, Peru this week. APEC promotes economic cooperation, trade and investment, among its 21 Pacific Rim economies. They now account for over 60% of the world’s GDP and nearly 40% of the global population.

• Jorge Heine is a former Chilean ambassador to China.
• Einar Tangen is a senior fellow with the Taihe Institute and he’s Chairman of Asia Narratives.
