Celestine Karoney is a Sports reporter with CGTN. She joined CGTN in December 2011 after working for Kenya television network (KTN) a local Kenyan TV station for five years.

Celestine developed a passion for journalism while at University in Kenya’s North Rift region and her opportunity came during the final year of study in 2006 where she made her entry into the industry as a trainee reporter.

Celestine who describes herself as passionate in what she does, has traversed Kenya, Africa and the world in search of sports stories. She was part of the CGTN team that covered the 2012 Olympics in London and prior to that covered the 2012 Africa cup of nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

With an affinity for Football, Athletics and Rugby, the sports that take centre stage in Africa, Celestine has also reported at major championships for these Sports including World championships in Athletics (both track and cross country), the 2009 Rugby sevens world cup, the 2010 commonwealth games and many more.

In this dynamic field of journalism Celestine calls herself a go-getter who always aspires to being the best she can be. While reporting Sports is a profession for Celestine she is also an ardent fan. She supports Manchester United football club, South Africa’s Rugby team, loves formula one and follows Cricket, tennis and golf.
