Frances Kuo

Frances Kuo is a correspondent and producer for CGTN America where she’s worked since 2014.

She’s covered major international stories including the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Presidential election of Joe Biden and U.S.-China trade issues. She focuses on enterprise stories that profile interesting people and trends across the U.S. and beyond.

Previously, she spent five years working as a reporter and producer for NBC News Channel, where she worked on the Foreign Desk and had the opportunity to cover the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Prior to NBC, she spent 10 years as a reporter and fill-in anchor at various local TV stations across the U.S.

She also has extensive experience in academia, having worked as an adjunct professor in journalism and communication theory. She currently serves as a frequent lecturer and mentor at the Washington, D.C. bureau of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

Frances speaks Mandarin Chinese and French, which she studied in Paris during her junior year in college. Spanish is still a work in progress!

She’s a proud alumna of Cornell University and Northwestern University.
