Ravinder Bawa

Ravinder Bawa is an award-winning journalist based in Delhi with a special interest in gender and environmental issues.

She has been the recipient of prestigious Laadli Media award and the Best Chevening Scholar award. She has extensively travelled to lesser travelled areas in India mostly known as conflict areas to report on disasters, resource conflict, politics and environmental issues.

She has 20 years of experience of reporting from ground zero and has been reporting for CGTN International since 2014 from South Asia covering news in Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

She has done in-depth coverage of the Rohingya refugee crisis. At CGTN she has extensively reported on natural disasters in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
During her stint in Headlines Today, a national news channel, she did an investigative report on young women selling their eggs for pocket money in 2008. Her travelogue on the Indian national elections coverage in 2004 was a milestone in election coverage for the national channel Aajtak.

In her international stint she covered the Copenhagen Climate Change summit in 2007. She was in Geneva in 2010 to cover the operation of Large Hadron Collider for discovery of Higgs Boson, an elementary particle.

Ravinder has worked with national channels (like Aajtak and Headlines Today) and international organisations (like BBC and National Geographic) in various capacities from a reporter to producer to researcher and trainer. Her forte is long format multimedia reports.
