Steve Ross

Based in Tokyo, Steve Ross is a Japan Correspondent for CGTN America, focusing on Japanese business, social trends, and international relations.

Before joining CGTN, Steve worked both in front of and behind the camera for ABC, NBC, and CBS network affiliate stations in the U.S., and was New York City correspondent for Turkish-owned Ebru News.

In Japan, he has covered G7 meetings, Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations, cryptocurrency developments, and the Fukushima disaster, always endeavoring to “see the difference” for CGTN viewers.

Steve is a former staff member of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. He received the first place Gold Award in the 2013 Stanford University U.S.-Asia Technology Management Center’s “Untold Story in Innovation” journalism competition, and was a Donald T. Sheehan International Fellow to the 2011 Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists.

From 1994 to 1997, he was a Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Program Fellow.

Steve is a graduate of Columbia University, and speaks Japanese and French.
