U.S. private spacecraft company SpaceX has successfully launched and landed a vertical rocket from Earth. It’s a notable accomplishment in the private space-race.

It is estimated that a reusable rocket can reduce the operational cost of a journey by some 50 million dollars. That means these rockets might not only be used to send cargo to space, but perhaps one day, even tourists.
SpaceX is a private U.S. company headed by Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla Motors.
