California town faces state of emergency over gas leak

For nearly three months, an environmental and health disaster has been plaguing the Southern California town of Porter Ranch.

A broken storage well has resulted in methane gas leaking into the atmosphere at an alarming rate and every attempt to plug the leak has failed. One local government official compares this to the BP oil rig disaster which contaminated the Gulf of Mexico.
