While Presidents Putin and Poroshenko have a renewed sense of confidence in resolving the Ukraine dispute, shelling resumes in the east of the country. On the front line, CCTV America’s Kate Parkinson spoke to an American citizen who is fighting alongside the rebels.

He refuses to reveal his real name, age or hometown, but said he was a U.S. war veteran. He is at a rebel base in eastern Ukraine.

He looks likes any other separatist fighter but his American accent sets him apart.

However, there are other foreign volunteer fighters in the rebel ranks. In fact, Spanish and French citizens have also joined the rebel militia. The American, ‘Hunter’, however, is thought to be the only American fighting for the rebels.

There was at least one other American fighting in Ukraine, but for a pro-Ukrainian militia. He was killed in battle in this past August.
