Global Business

While the United Nations General Assembly was mostly about geopolitics and diplomacy earlier this week, the world body’s U.N. Women is wrapping it up with a focus on gender equality.

The U.N. just unveiled its report from its ‘He or She’ campaign- focusing on promoting gender parity in higher education.

It’s recruited some of the world’s most renowned universities to help implement the plan.

The group of 10 IMPACT universities spans across eight countries on five continents.

It includes Georgetown University in Washington, DC – as well as University of Oxford in the U.K., Brazil’s University of Sao Paulo and Hong Kong University.

Among the main goals is closing the gender gap for academic and administration positions at the university level by 2020.

They’re also looking to create centers that focus on transforming gender roles.

Universities are also vowing to end campus violence by not only preventing it but changing how its reported and addressed.
