A new leader is preparing to succeed Jacob Zuma as head of the governing African National Congress party in South Africa. Cyril Ramaphosa won a narrow vote, 2,440 out of 4,700 delegates selecting him as their leader.
Observers expect Ramaphosa to run for president when elections are held in 2019.
Zuma is ineligible for a third term.
