The Chinese New Year holidays have brought back scenes not seen at cinemas on the Chinese mainland for a year, a slew of new release titles and crowds to match.

Over the Chinese New Year holiday week, China’s box office scored nearly one billion dollars, projecting a swift recovery for the film industry in China for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The trend brought about optimism not just for China, but also Hollywood and global film industries.
